Behind the Scenes of a Thoughtfully Planned Litter

Every litter at Frenchie Frenzy KC begins long before puppies are ever expected.

When planning a pairing, we carefully consider health testing, structure, temperament, coat quality, and genetics. Each decision is made intentionally, with the goal of producing healthy, well-balanced French Bulldogs that will thrive in family homes.

Once a pairing is selected, our focus shifts fully to the momma. During pregnancy, we support her with enhanced nutrition, including folate and prenatal supplementation, while closely monitoring her comfort and overall well-being. We also make thoughtful adjustments to her routine — including reducing high-energy play and overexcitement — to help support a calm, healthy pregnancy.

As a registered nurse with over 20 years of labor and delivery experience, I approach each pregnancy with careful observation, preparation, and respect for the process.

Behind the scenes, preparation is ongoing. Our nursery is thoughtfully set up in advance, and we take extra precautions due to the unique needs of the breed. This includes assembling a traveling incubator and delivery kit for car rides to our reproduction veterinarian, located approximately two and a half hours away, ensuring we are prepared for any situation along the way.

At home, we are equally prepared for arrival. A home incubator, heated whelping area, and oxygen concentrator are ready to support newborn puppies during those critical early hours and days, providing warmth, stability, and additional respiratory support if ever needed.

Whelping and the early weeks of life are especially important to us. Puppies are raised in our home, surrounded by everyday sights, sounds, and gentle handling. This early environment helps lay the foundation for confident, well-socialized companions.
